once you have all the parts...we'll chat some more
Well i've been lurking around this site for a few weeks, and now i think a carputer is something i need![]()
But i need some guidance so i dont go buy a bunch of stuff that i either dont need, or isn't what i shoud of gotten..
So here is what i'm planing on getting. and advice is appericated..
7" lillput t.s. display
EPIA M 10000 m.b.
40g h.d.
standard dvd/cd-r drive
OR..
Should i just use my old mb. and cpu (733mhz with 384mg ram)
Thats the stuff i know i want.. Well m.b. i'm not 100% sure on..
But what gps reciever is a good buy.. i plan on using street atlas 04
And my main worry is power supply. I was thinking about using a stadnard pc one, and just pluging it into a power inverter i have. But then when i shut the car off it would not be easy on the system..
So what do you guys recommend? i read about 90w and 120w ones, but not sure what i'll need.
Also i could use more info on setting it all up. like power and shut off all that fun stuff.

I second the motion and add a 256meg ram stick to the list...it sounds like you're on the right track.Originally Posted by bosstone74

couple of random thoughts
Make your parts decision before you decide on 90W/150W PSU.
Think about how your're gonna get sound into the stereo. Does your stereo have an auxilliary-in adapter, or will you go straight into amps?
Is your DVD/CD drive going into the case or will it be a remote install (like the dash), if so, you probably can't use IDE, so you're best off with something like a firewire bridge and a long firewire cable.
Laptop drives, lower power, bit more resistance to vibrations.
have fun
