Hi, i need help and advice for a project that i have. I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop, with all my movies and music on it. And ofcourse i would like to hook it up to my sound system in my car. Sound wise i am sorted, but how will i power my laptop? Where can i mount it so that it isn't nicked and are there any issues about the shut down and start up? Do controllers that would control it for me exist for laptops? I really need help cos it is all new to me, but i looks great!!thx guys!

For power, there are two ways to go: DC to AC inverter (provides house outlet from cigarette lighter) and actual power adapter for that Dell that plugs into the lighter. The Dell adapter is a better choice if you want to keep the buzz out of the audio.

For mounting, there are a number of console and floor mounts out there that provide a solid mounting surface. As was suggested to me for a 15" LCD, think about how the cops do it! They already use Motorola "ruggedized" laptops in their cars, so the hardware to mount one should be pretty easy to find on the web.
