Sounds like a plan. OPUS has a shutdown controler in it, I think. If not, MPEGBOX has a good one.
i have an Audi A4 and am thinking about doing a carputer project. After reading up a lot on these boards this is my proposed system:
7" touchscreen (Either the Xenarc or Lilliput) fiberglassed into the dash
Epia M10000 Nehemiah mobo
512 ram
Either opus (if I ever hear back from opussolutions) or Audioforge PS.
30-60gb HD
laptop DVD-Rom
USB GPS (probably CoPilot)
I was thinking of doing the install in my rear armrest with the dvd drive fiberglassed into the top lid of the armrest along with an LED fan (then debating on whether to smooth the fiberglass and paint or recover in cloth)
This is my first attempt at doing a carputer install. I'm going to be running XP with the interface designed by sharkweb. How does this sound? Also, should I run a shutdown computer? I don't plan on having the computer on every time I drive the car as I'm running my audi signal through my existing HU already equipped with XM radio. I mostly am going to use the computer for Navigation and video playback. Thanks in advance for any help.

What year is your A4? I have a 2002 A4 that I'd like to modify for a carputer. What will you be doing to incorporate the screen into the dash?
i just finished my carputer version2... check it out for some ideas...Originally Posted by pjmckellar

I think that fiberglass looks a whole lot beter then rediong with material - just my opinion
I have a 97... i'm going to be fiberglassing the touchscreen into the dash and move my climate control to the ash tray area. I'm also planning on mounting the HU in my glove box and installing the computer in my rear armrest.Originally Posted by pjmckellar
