Are there any "generic" din project boxes with slots for push buttons and such that you can install into a car? Would be nice if there was one made of metal with plastic bezels in the front you can paint.... screws together, etc.

Very reasonable and lots of sizes. If you have a double din, like i do, I found one that is 3" high, 7" wide, and 9" long...with a sloped top. Perfect for my ITX. I also got a 7X7.5 like the one in the link above...tight fit! Good luck-----Jeff
