DMN, you should run MSDOS or DRDOS with MPXPlay. You might be interested in my site as it deals with building a system with a P133. You'll definitely need a larger hard drive, though, but that'll only be an extra $60.

what would everyone suggest as a display for a system such as this?

I had a 133 Packard bell
first off, asses the damage, if you have the sound card/ modem combo toss it 1. its a ***** to get drivers for and 2. sound quality is lacking, buy a newer card
Next you need a new hard drive, since the computer has a bios limitation you have 2 choices, buy a PCI IDE card or use software to override the BIOS only problem is the Software route can be considerably slower than the dedicated IDE card
Next you probably have the built in S3 trio video card as far as i know there was no TV out put so go pick up a used ATI or nVidia card if you truly want the cheap way out
Finally you'll need at least 32 MB of ram and not a Megabyte more than 64! (they had crappy northbridge chips that slowed down considerably when more than 64Mb were installed) and i think all of the P1 systems put out by PB were EDO ram so good luck trying to find some cheap ram!

P.S. if you ever see a computer in the trash take it i found a system in the snow 2 days ago that is twice as fast as what you have now
