use the soft off, you push the switch and it shuts down the pc.

Alrite i was searching around the forums and would like to put a computer in my car for music. The computer would be no problem, I'm a computer techie but I am still confused as to how I would turn the computer on and SAFETLY off. Turning It on wouldn't be hard(I could just extend the wires for the on switch) but turning it off is where I don't get how you'd do it? I mean you could just cut power to it but I dont want to do that and I want to be able to shut it down and be able to leave the car, have it shutdown, and not be sucking juice form my battery.

that's the first i've seen of that relay circuit ... interesting.
if you wire a pushbutton windows will shut down gracefully when you push the button.
or there's circuits that can do this for you. they can be bought or built. search for shutdown controller or shutdown circuit
