Hibernation is writing whatever is on the ram to the harddrive and then shutting down. Upon wake-up the info is written back to the ram and the pc continiuing with whatever programs where running. The more ram, the more to transfer to the hdd and back, equaling longer return and hibernation times.

Who needs hibernation when you have suspend? If you're going to not drive your car for a few days, shut it off. If you're going into the mall, put it in suspend...

Maybe it's just because I have an SUV but I've left the ITX system in suspend overnight and not killed my battery.

    about 45 secconds

but how much of that memmory is normally used? I would imagine windows being more efficient in going into suspend. Although i don't regularly used hybernate, when I have it certainly hasn't taken that long to load/unload, (hell, it takes less time to boot/shutdown!) and I'm not talking about a system with nothing on it either.

Explain this? I did the install of my stuff in about 2 hours. Plus the console build, but 2 hours for the wireing!! It is really easy and fast.

I guess you're just a lot better than I am

What i said was a little misleading. If everything goes your way, I guess two hours is reasonable... but nothing I ever do for the first time goes my way.

if you want the real numbers my car was in some state of undress from september 14th until november 30th. When i started the install, and ran into problems with incompatible parts and need for more custom work, rather than dressing the car up just to take it apart again later i left it apart. Atleast with me those snap on fittings have half lives, and i didn't want to be removing and installing parts any more than necessary.

the biggest setback was a slipped AC condensate line that drenched my carpet. took that a whole damn week to dry.

P.S. I did my entire install and plan without any knowledge of this site or any other groups of people familiar with this stuff, so the only errors i had to learn from were my own
