Parts I have, What can I do with these (Need Xpert Advise)

Ok so Im low on cash and I have some parts that i'd love to use.

Old Compaq Pressario Computer

Ill have 128 to 256 sdram
400-500 mhz processor
full atx board
7gb hd (big enough for my mp3s)

I would like to get a 7" LCD display for this computer

what else will I need ontop of what I have and howmuch am I looking at?
are the parts I have even usable?

parts are usable. you just need to go through the install/showoff forums to see what others have done.

Awesome a reply in under 10min I love this! Seraph do you have AIM or a faster way of talking? Id really like to go into some intense detail with an xpert member

Look around the place. I have installed 3 car computers in the past. My last project is still under development. ( I have to get my car running first). What do you need? I have AIM, Yahoo Msger, ICQ, and a couple of other stuff but I have to re-install them.

In a car, you just want some Divx playback, mp3 playback and GPS nav. Maybe DVD too. IMO, 500 Mhz machine is more than enough. Many may disagree. Also, remember in the car, you have to keep in mind about cooling it. I personally use the VIA C3 Processors in the car. They are a lot cooler compare to Intel and AMD processors. Once, I even had a 12V DC -> 110 AC inverter in the car. Too much noisy signals. I now have a espressoPC for what I need.

Think we could talk on aim? Whats your SN? Also yes 400mhz should be plenty for just mp3s... also how well do you think my onboard sound/video will work? I can always upgrade to a pci vid card but will onboard sound be enough? Also ive still be looking what power supply do you recommend? This will be going in a 3000gt. Finally I will add some fans if I can but cooling isn't a worry if it dies it dies... not like the parts were of value to me! Again id love to talk to ya on aim if we could, I am going to start mounting the mb fans and whatnot in a plexiglass case tommorow!
