    Exclamation Please confirm my knowledge and if I have the correct equipment.

    Hello!

    I am a NOOB to the whole 'carputer' setups, and eager to learn. I have browsed this site quite often. Some of the threads I have read just plain scare me. I have read tons of problems and things which do not work correctly. Yet, I have learned a tremendous amount and was hoping I could get some feedback on some choices prior to the actual purchase.

    Background Information: The primary goal with the mobile electronics is the following:
    - Run my Engine Management System off the 'carputer' and lcd screen.
    - Play DVD movies for various entertainment and 'wow' value.
    - Have audio ran through my reciever from the PC.
    - Run a Deluo GPS and navigation system.
    - General fun with a computer in the car.

    Vehicle Information: This will be installed on my 1995 Mazda RX-7, 20B conversion. The car has thousands upon thousands invested in various go-fast items. At high enough boost, horsepower is past the 1k mark at the rear wheels.

    Equipment to be purchased:
    - Casetronics C134 with an EPIA M10000
    - 256mb DDR-low profile
    - DVD 8X Slim-line
    - IBM 2.5" 40GB drive
    - PW70-A
    - ITPS
    - GAIN based Xenarc 7" TSV
    - Xenarc upgraded "Ultra High Brightness Enhancement"
    - Xenarc touch-screen kit
    - Kenwood Excelon KDC-X459

    Questions:
    - Will the ITPS and PW70-A fit within the Casetronics C134? I would assume the PW70-A is a direct replacement? I have attemped to review the PDF for the installation procedures, but it seemed to lock my browser. Sorry for not being able to read through this.
    - Horror stories about the onboard graphics of the M10000. Anything from crappy pictures, unusable resolutions, etc. Is there a way to optimize the usage of the onboard graphics and the 7" TSV screen?
    - Will all items I have listed meet my goals for this project?
    - Are there any additional items which I may have missed?

    Thanks for your time. I look forward to reading some responses.

    nice to see another Rx. there is a 12v-12v power in the c134 why do you want to change it. i would just use the ITPS inline with the 12v in plug on the back of ther case.
    now working on my Dodge Dak
    toshiba portege == done
    audigy2 NX == done
    7" flush mount == 0%
    pimp rating == 48%

    Ok. The 60W should be sufficent for what I need.

    I am concerned with one thing at this point in time. It is the S3 Video capability with usage on the monitor. Can anyone offer any input on this?

    Thanks for the reply.

    The epia has sufficient onboard video for any front end you might want to use, divx works just dandy in mediaenigne, and it takes a little tinkering to get the DVD playback smooth, but it should be sufficient.
    My Carputer! (More Car Pics at the end)
    2 Kicker Comp 10"
    Epia M-9000, 256 MB DDR, 120 Gig HD
    Lilliput 7" VGA Touchscreen
    Check it out?!

    Pudge-

    Thanks for the reply. I think I worried myself to a point, that I purchased some different equipment than the Casetronics C134.

    Due to the *potential* issue of the onboard video not meeting the 16:9 resolution, I purchased the Casetronics 2699R; which allows for one PCI card to be used. It is simular in size, yet just about 3.5" wider.

    In the event that I cannot obtain the desired resolution, I could always place a PCI ATI Radion 9100 or something inside the machine. I am hoping though that the onboard video will work out and I could use this extra PCI slot for some WIFI integration into my home LAN.

    I also purchased an ITPS to use inline of the power input.

    Now, I am trying to decide on a screen. The Lilliput screens seem very appealing for the cost, yet the quality control issues start to make me wonder. The "ebay guy" who sells a bunch of them offers a 12mo warrenty, in the event that the screen goes bad. The alternative choice is the Xenarc 700 TSV, which is near double the cost. Then add in the additional functionality of the "ultra brightness" for 200.00 more. Yet, I still read many issues with the Xenarc screens as well.

    On a side note, do most people wire their PC through the receiver from an AUX input? Is the sound quality well? Is the best way to control volume through the PC at this point?

    Thanks for the replies.

    Hey its me Josh from RX7Club. Anyway ill try to answer some of your questions:

    1. In the event that I cannot obtain the desired resolution, I could always place a PCI ATI Radion 9100 or something inside the machine. I am hoping though that the onboard video will work out and I could use this extra PCI slot for some WIFI integration into my home LAN.

    I did a little reading and you should be alright with the resolutions. In case your not (and you use the ATI Radeon card) and you still want to use WIFI, just buy a USB WIFI adapter (I think they sell them).

    2. If you buy from ebay and the screen is bad, you have to ship back to Hong Kong...which could get expensive. The Xenarc is a very nice screen, but Im not sure if its worth it. I would wait for DigitalWW to get more Lilliputs and buy from them, unless you get the eBay guy to agree to pay for return shipping in the event there is a problem.

    3. On a side note, do most people wire their PC through the receiver from an AUX input? Is the sound quality well? Is the best way to control volume through the PC at this point?

    Well a lot of people don't have head units when they install a carputer. They usually hook it up directly to the amp. But if you have a head unit (which you do) then really that is the only way. The sound quality is what you would expect from a CD changer. I don't see why you can't control volume through the head unit? Just set the volume to like 75% on the computer (master sound) then use the head unit. If you set the carputers sound up to 100% you can have distortion problems, from my experience.

    Good luck and let me know how it turns out!

    -Josh

    PS im almost ready to buy my TII, im looking at a few.

    Well first I'd like to say... 'past the 1k mark at the rear wheels' ...Sorry, but that's just ridiculous!!! How many tyres(tires) do you get through????

    umm... look at this
    http://www.pettitracing.com/sections/Banzai.html
    and that is on stock ports. I think a big street port or a bridge port should hit over 1k HP, hell you can get 550rwhp out of a half bridge 13bt.
