    Need help with my install

Hi guys Let me start off with the equipment i'm using

    morex 3688 mini itx case
    m1000 nehemiah
    40g 2.5 ibm hard drive
    4x IDE dvd Drive
    onboard video
    onboard sound
    Opus 90watt power supply
    Xenarc 7" touchscreen

Ok now i have a few questions and i would really appreciate it if someone can help me out.

My first question is I'm going to install my dvd outside of the case and in the arm rest. (the pc will be in the trunk) So what i'm worried about is how am i going to wire the drive when it uses IDE. I know that the longest cables you can get is 24". I've found a ide to use converter will this work?? Now about powering the drive, i'm using the opus 90 watt power supply and the power cables are not long enough. Can i get longer cables somewhere???

    Second Qestion

About the xenarc screen, is there anyway i can connect the power to my opus power supply, i don't want to use the cigerette adapter. i want the monitor and pc to turn on when the car is started. Will the 90w power supply be enough??

dont use the adapter, cut the plug off and wire it directly to the 12v cord in the dash.

and you can use any length you want, but over 24 you're gonna get power spikes and bad data. just make your own power cable, its very simple, just cut and solder. dont put the dvd drive in the armrest though, put it in the trunk or near the backseat. how many dvd's do you plan on watching on your way to work? the whole point is so you dont have to swap discs.

so you mean to cut off the xenarc's adapter and wire that to the car's cigerette adapter???

Honestly i need to have the dvd near the front of the car, its a 2 door and i really don't wanna goto the trunk and replace the dvd disc everytime i need to watch a movie.

Do you think that ide to usb will work?

it will, but speed will suffer.

andyes, literally cut the cigar plug off the end, and wire it into the same power supply that the lighter uses, just behind the dash.

    dvd

So do you have any other suggestions regarding how to connect the drive without losing speed. I can just buy an external usb drive but it requires ac power so thats useless to me.

So regarding the sodering of the power wires (power to dvd) can i use any wires or can i purchase longer wires from somewhere.

you can buy USB 2.0 and firewire drive enclosures for any drive (including DVD drives) that do not need an additional power source. Good, seeing as you have a pair of each on your motherboard :-)
