ITPS/Power Hookup (...Crank won't bother me)

Hi, I'm still new here so I have some questions.

I've browsed the board and still havent found the best answer. I have an ITPS and a PW-70a setup (check the sig for the rest of the rig

). I want to know whats the best place to hook up the ITPS. I don't think I need a battery tank because I won't mind restarting the system, it boots up fairly fast. I'm wondering where is the best place to hook up the system's power needs... and the LCD is powered by the cigarette lighter.

As far as the head unit goes..... The original head-unit has been ripped out and mauled "Office Space"-style (it earned it), but theres no documentation for the wires that it used. I can't trace them either. So if you own a 1986 Volvo 740GLE or around that model and can help me.... please respond. I don't plan on using a new head unit...I'm modding the old not-too-bad-sounding Volvo amp (low budget cost-cutting...

) to go straight to the computer.

i don't really get what you are asking when yuo say the best palce to hook up the ITPS ... but you want it to be between your battery and your pw-70a. grab a constant 12v line (either from the battery itself or from something else in the car that has a big enough fuse) and a switched 12v from something else. that's it.

is the original wiring harness still in the car? if so just buy a harness from best buy and it will map everything for you. if you cut the harness out ... shame on you

nope. the wiring's still there. the only thing taken out was the broken head unit. im looking through best buy right now. just to make sure i should be using a 7A fuse for my ITPS right?

the ITPS has a fuse on it already so I wouldn't worry about it too much ...

if you run a dedicated power line to the battery for the ITPS, then stick a 7-10a fuse at the battery to protect the wiring. But the ITPS will protect itself.

If you tap into an existing wire, you just need to make sure the fuse in the fusebox for that wire is hefty enough to handle your PC plus whatver it originally powered.

if your HU is gone I'd suggest taking the 12v line from there and that should be plenty.
