I want the carputer to control the hydraulics too.

Anyone on here done that before?

Possibly, I know the principals of the company quite well, after having used them for PCs for the last few years.

A previous question on this thread got me to thinking... At a minimum I will document the entire system (that I put together for my project) and share it with this forum, but maybe I will take it a step farther and create an electronics package for people who retro fit their cars with carputers.
Buying these types of small industrial CPU mobos is expensive in small quantities, but volume brings the cost down.

Seems most of the people on this site just want a small, reliable system that they dont have to piece together themselves, that should not be too hard to do.

That would be nice, although many people in this fourm are doing this becuase they couldnt find a flexable solution to meet there needs. Also, many people here are using spare parts around the house. Something along the lines of a barebone would be nice.

Although, i appluade ure enthusiasm, building any systems may not be the way to go. Instead you can focus on creating controls to do stuff around the car, open trunk, windows, ect. Even creating a simple device that will sence the change in light levels and thus triggering the event to change a skin will be more then helpful.

If you really want to use this forum to make some extra cash, building, or finding a source for DC-DC powersupplies will be excellent. Currently the best design is the 150watt opus, but its 180$.

Actually, I was not thinking of actually manufacturing anything! More along the lines of bringing together already existing components from existing manufacturers.

There are plenty of good standards based equipment suppliers but most of these good folks on here don't have the background in this sort of thing.
Thats why I was thinking that documenting my project might be enough.

As for making money, I doubt Opus is getting weaththy at $180 per converter. We are talking about a very small market base to sell to.
