Sony fm modulator

Hi Folks from a long time lurker, short time member.

I'm in the process of gathering all the gear for an install, mboard, monitor etc. I've got an old fm modulator from a cd changer I got a fair few years ago, can't remember the model no., which uses the sony bus. Will this work without the bus cable connected or without a sony changer???

If this is the XM-300 then as I understand it all the connections (at the head unit end) need to be hooked up. Do you still have a Sony HU? I'm interested in an XM-300 if you don't need it, PM me if interested.

Sorry Chris, definately not the model you mentioned, but still cant remember which. It was something like CDX 51RF. I thought the bus cable was for controls only. Guess I'll just have to give it a try and see!!!
