Odd Question for Mounting the Monitor

I am hoping there may be someone that can lead me in the right direction with this , I am hoping to mount my monitor on one of those bendable arms you usally see on lamps. Does anyone know where I can find these bendable arms ? I know this is a odd question but after searching for lamps for the past few days I am getting a little worn out on looking at lamp stores and finding a decent arm on a lamp for $98+ . Has anyone seen these on anything else?

    Thanks

Go to Home Depot and look around their pipe/wireing section. I belive they may have some sort of pipeing that will do that. If not, I think Home Depot might even have a desk lamp type thing that'll work too! Nice idea though, I hadn't thought of that.
    Good Luck.

Hmmm .... bendable piping I will check Lowes / Home depot for that tonight. I am wondering how those bendable arms are made, It may be good to craft one myself if it is not to time intensive.

The type of flexible arm you're referring to is usually referred to as a "goose neck". That term might help you in your search if you were calling it something else.

I'll agree the Home Despot is a great place to look for just about any build project. I just like to go and browse. You might find something you didn't expect that fits your needs.

I've also seen some ball joint hoses used in intustrial applications that would work in the same manner but I don't know the name of those. That dosn't help you does it?

One could also take fully interlocked tubing, then put some heavy gauge copper wire inside the tubing to carry the weight of a small monitor. The copper wire would be felxible and the tubing would keep the wire in place.

I am not sure how this would handle the bumps on a road but it would be a start.

I'm thinking that copper wire might bounce around in a car wouldn't it? That would make your screen a little hard to see.

Actually I was refering to it as just "bendable lamp arm" in my searches as I could not think of the word.

I can honestly say I have no idea what you are refering to there

Actually this is a very good idea .. I can see going to Lowes or home depot and picking up some flex conduit and also picking up some thick copper wire .. take enough to fill the conduit and that shoudl be enough to hold up to some aggressive driving. Correct me if I am wrong here

    Thanks

I don't know I'm an electrical engineer, not a mechanical one.

.. right now I am just hoping for the best , but you may be correct that it would not be able to take the vibrations of the car .. I just remember seeing some pretty thick copper wire that held its shape really well and was thinking you get a bunch of this together it sould work great . not sure what thickness I am refering to though.
