DVD Drive Question (slot loading)

I am new to the Car-Puter field but I'm knowlegable with cars and computer repair is my occupation.

I want to install the slot loading DVD drive made by pioneer into my 94 Celica.

Does anybody know how these drives work with bumps and such? Would it work facing upwards?

Does anybody have a suggestion for a DVD drive that would run good for a car? I was thinking something that uses USB so I can run the cable to the trunk where the PC will sit.

If the DVD slot loader will work I am going to bridge it to USB using the guts from an external hard drive.

the pioneer cd drive should work at any angle as for bumps plug it in to your home pc and shack it while playing a song see how it goes
