to summarize:
You run a power supply either off an inverter or a dc-dc power supply that is wired directly to the battery. if you have a head unit with aux in or use a modulator or a tape interface, you don't need an amplifier. If you want to run without a head unit, you take the sound out of the soundcard and run it into an amplifier and out to the speakers.

How is the sound quality if you use a fm modulator ? Anyone tested that ?Originally Posted by telekineticfool
Not wonderful. I had a modulated CD changer for a while. The difference between a real CD player and the modulated changer was night and day...I had them hook it up when I got a CD player, and never used it after the first time I tried the two back-to-back. Yuck!
It's good enough for some people though...It will be about as good as a really clean FM radio station....So if you're ok with that...*shrug*
