Question Changing the bands on a Radar?

Hi there I have an old radar that id like to use but It's from america.
And I want it to work on the roads for New Zealand so I need to change the band to Xa. Does anyone know what i need to change in the radar to enable this?
Any help would be great thanks.

you need to buy a new one. it wouldnt be cost effective to modify the old one.

Ka is pretty much a standard band on every new radar detector sold.

If you plan on buying a new radar, buy one worth buying :-P.

Escort Passport 8500, Valentine One, both highly rated. (I'm thinking about an 8500 X50 Blue.... ooooh yeah).

Stay clear of Rocky Mountain Radar products.

Uniden is... crap. Bel makes very "average" to "above average" products. I'd use bel as a benchmark that a detector must meet or exceed to be called "good".

Case in point, Bel makes the 2nd best laser jammer, just under the Escort Shifter ZR3. Not an easy feat.
