Carputer finally finished...Big problem w/ display!!!

    Hey all,
Long time lurker, first time poster. I FINALLY finished my carputer and everything works great....at home. Hooked it up for the first time in my car, on my Eclipse 7002 monitor and realized, the resolution is jacked up. The only inputs that my monitor has are RCA jacks. They work great for DVD players, MP3 players and stuff like that but once I connect my carputer to it via TV-Out, sound is great, video sucks. I know that VGA is the way to go but my Jeep Grand Cherokee has very limited space and I still would like to utilize my Eclipse to watch DVDs. I was thinking about possibly putting a VGA touch screen in the visor and using my Eclipse just for movies and GPS (when I get it). Any suggestions?
    Current setup:

Eclipse 7002 In-dash monitor, Custom built clear acrylic case, EPIA M10000 Mobo, Morex 75W PSU, 20GB Fujitsu 2.5" HDD, LG Slim DVD Drive, 256MB PC 2700 RAM, GPS: Not yet but looking

You hit the nail on the head.
A display with a VGA input is what you deisre. Try a Xenarc or Lilliput...
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Bite the bullet and go for the in dash install. It's been a pretty big pain in my ***, but I think in the end it was definitely worth it. I'll be posting pix soon of my finished project, but maybe tomorrow I'll post one of just the dash with the lilliput molded in.

a nice HDTV may be able to give you a 1024x768 resolution. Any small non-vga screen is bound to suck. TV's just weren't meant to display computer screens

replace the eclipse with a vga/rca model that does both, then you wouldnt need two monitors?

what about using a video card with composite (RCA) out....yeah theyre will be alot less resolution, but who really needs 1024x768 on a 7 inch screen!, you can pick one up on ebay for $6

Do not never buy screen with only rca-jacks if you wanna see "little" text. Rca/s-video is only dvd/video use. You don`t see the names of places/adresses if you using rca-inputs. Buy screen with vga-input and you see all.
