they're not really, they might be ok for dvd players, copilot, and car/pc based programs with big bold letters and buttons,no detail
better off getting a vga, non motorized in dash, like dww-7vga, or somthing like that,
They can be hacked and and I am sure you can find one that does VGA
What do you mean they can be hacked? Something like using a vga to s-video converter.
yes, but quality will suck. that being the most important drawback.
Here you go...
Or you can get a motorized Composite screen, rip out the composite screen, and replace it with a Lilliput.
I use a Sony in-dash motorized LCD. Video playback from DVDs or music videos from the PC look good, but fonts are hard to make out unless you make them pretty big. VGA would make it alot easier to read fonts, and it might make a bit of difference with video playback.Quote:

I can run almost any application you would use your carputer for besides surfing the web, or typing a paper. I know most of you are aware, but maybe some are not, that you can change all the properties of windows XP to make everything bigger, including the icons, the font, the scroll bars. I use a touch screen and I have no problems what so ever with my 7" composite. Yes a VGA would be better but for the few of us who can't afford one, composite is another option.
To change the size of things in windows xp ---> right click on the desktop -> go to properties --> go to appearance ->> and then go to advanced. And walla , you can change any property you'd like and everything is big and easy to read.
Composite sucks use RGB and solder it straight to the screen
