They do not act as a USB mouse as far as I'm aware. They need to be calibrated, and although I think this is stored in their EEPROM, I'm not sure that it gives the screen mouse compatibility. Windows certainly doesn't attempt to install it as a mouse.
There are binary drivers for various Linux distros, say here http://www.egalax.com.tw/Download.htm
But I don't think any *BSD stuff is out officially. I just did a quick search on the FreeBSD hardware forums, and no mention of touchscreens there either.
I have seen various mentions of Linux kernel support for various touchscreens, too. The actual USB resistive touchscreen interface is probably not specific to Lilliput (I have a Xenarc and I'm using the newer Lilliput-compatible software).
So yeah. By the way, why would you possibly want to run *BSD in your car?!? You should probably just drop your l33t pride and just use Linux![]()
