Red face PLease advise me on the power options :)

    Hello everyone,
I have installed my lcd, and have installed my computer that i got from http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1

The thing is, the computer has a build in dc-dc converter, so I connected it directly to the lighter wires. I do hate that the computer will turn off when i turn the key in any direction (off-power-engine start) that is not the biggest concern.
->What really bugs me is that the computer will not turn on for a minute or so when I turn on the engine. And on top of that I think that I have some flickering on the screen because of the power connections. hmmm I see this Opus and ITPS regulators, but since I am unfamiliar with them, I dont know how they would help or function.
=>Does anyone have any ideas? I really appreciate all your help and thank you.
Please look at the link to see what power supply i have...it says in the back of the computer (12 v, 4A) will the lighter provide that?
    Thanks!!!

First thing, do your own research on this forum and others, and build your own carputer. Don't buy a cheepy box. Opus thats your answer. your last question, yes.

OPUS is the answer, however they are terribly backed up, too much demand and zero supply....they do make PSUs for the car environment that survive cranking and even initiate shut down when u take the key out (rather than cutting power cold)

Sorry for busting your chops. Actually now that I look at it that's not a bad starter carputer system. You'd obviously need a dc-dc PSU and a slim dvd rom.

-Opus is an all in one dc-dc power supply. Comes in 90W and 150W
-ITPS and the PW70 (example) is another solution. Basically the ITPS unit regulates the voltage coming in and sends it to the PW70 to run your computer. I don't remember the details about the ITPS such as tank circuit or what not.

Also what kind of dc-dc psu does this thing already come with? It looks like that thign that comes with those morex cases. If so then you can just buy an ITPS and be done with it.
