Thread: Dual monitor video card.

any dual monitor card will do.

you can search this forum for video cards (radeon, geforce, etc) that are working well for people currently....then check that vendor's website

there will probably be a dual monitor version of most of the video cards people here are using.

as for one vga and one rca...most radeon cards do it, but I think it may be mirrored. They may only do the extended desktop with dual vga.

you can also try ati's website. they make the radeon cards.

I know for sure that the Radeon 8500 will display extended desktop (different image) with 1 VGA and the S-video output. I have also tried this on a 9600 and and this works too. Nice thing about the ATI catalyst software (and the Geforce N-view i believe) is it allows you to switch applications between screens with a simple button press (I have this on my remote and it drives the girlfriend nuts when i do it via the remote when shes working) and it also has application memory so it remembers where a program was when you last used it - e.g. DVD always opens on my second monitor. You can also use basic windows display settings to positon the second monitor where it is in relation to your pimary - e.g. if you monitor is slightly below and to the right then that is where you head to to get to it and you can also use different resolutions between the screens.

Buddy, you need to more! By RCA you mean the single (yellow) phono connector right? I normally refer to it as composite. You get an S-video to simple phono converter with most Radeon cards along with a an S-video and nice thick composite extension cable on my 8500.

Some cheaper cards have composite output but this is lower quality than the s-video so i would buy one with s-vid in case you get something which accepts it later. The Radeon drivers also allow you to adjust the composite sharpeness and dot-crawl when you are using composite to help clear up the image a bit.

I think you can use 2 VGA and one TV output at the same time but only have 2 different images.

PS even if you dont get a converter with your card they are pretty cheap. Just go down to your local electronics store Maplins or CPC (if you are int he UK) or Radioshack or summit in the US.

Here is one: s-vid to RCA - this was jsut top of the page on a google search for rca converter so i dont know if this company is any good - just 1st out of the hat.
