possible? booting off external USB Harddrive. on mini itx nehemiah

2 questions:
1- will it be possible to boot off external HD
2- will my setup have enough power?

my carputer parts: (50% acquired)
-VIA EPIA 10000 1GHZ Nehemiah
-PW-70A micro power supply
-ITPS Auto Power Sequencer and Low Dropout Regulator
-Lilliput 7" Touch Screen
-SB Audigy (PCI)
-256/512 DDR (haven't decided yet)
-8x SLIM DVD ROM
-40G 2.5" HD (want this to be external, uses 2 - 2.0 USB ports)
-wireless compact kb + mice
-2 USB HUBS (1 powered, 1 self-powered)
-unpowered: camera connection usb, KB/mice, lilliput touch, bluetooth
-powerd: 2ports - ext HD, wifi-usb, gps?
-some grounding wires. ehehe

You'll be pretty close to 70W, you might want to get two 70W supplies and use one up front to power your USB and lilliput. If not, they i'd go for the 90W.

but it says on their website that the PW70-A is 100+ W? or am i wrong???

I tried to boot into XP from a USB hard disk and never did get it working. The system did 'technically' boot, but always blue screened during the XP install process (after the first reboot). Upto the point of the blue screen, the install appeared to be working albeit EXTREMELY slowly (like floppy disk speeds).

My guess is, with the right combination of drivers, this could be made to work.

hmm. darn. o well, i guess ill sell that stupid ext. hard drive enclosure since i just bought a USB-key Wifi. . . hehe, so i dont have to use ext hard drives anymore. whahahah

Did anyone ever get the usb boot speeds up? Can you boot USB 2.0, or is that software to get the 2.0 spec? I want to give the microdrive a try, but if the usb boots that slowly, maybe not!

Built around live CD and live USB drive. Gotta love it.

if I were you, I'd get it so it could run in hibernation or whatever DSl's got for a few days, that way you can use the copy to HD boot option to speed up usage times.

As much as I would love to go with Linux, Frodoplayer doesnt have Linux support. Plus, compatibility with my other PC's would be harder.
