    'quick releases' do they exist?

I don't know how it is called, so let me describe it:
In Europe DIN size radiosets used to be equipped with a sleigh. (Before the time that frontpanels could be taken of)
It was a kind of box with a connector that fitted into a frame that was mounted into the dash. This way you could easely take your radio with you out of the car.

Does something like this exist for the mini-cases for the carputers?
A bit like laptops sometimes do have...

I Know what you are talking about. My cousin has one. and I doubt something like that exists for the computer in cars.

In the US, they wer called "pull-out" radios. I know that certain hard drives can be pulled out of cases in a 5-1/4" bay, but i've never seen a mini-itx case that locks into a sleeve in order to be removeable like that. As far as car mounting goes, I would keep your install as "stealth" or factory looking as possible, and use unusual head screws (like Torx, or square-drive) to mount it to the vehicle. That way, if anyone did discover your hidden computer in the car, thay would have to be carrying several types of screwdrivers, or bits with them. not many thieves do this.

I did mine like that. Just build a small box and another box that it slides into with a plug in the right place.

    chassisconnectors

"...a plug in the right place" you said?

But don't you need more plugs, like
    12V power supply connector
    Video/TFT screen connector
    wireless keyboard receiver

    and so on?

and do those connectors exist as chassisconnector
(so they can be attached with screws or something like that).
Or do you have to glue and hope it stays in place.
