I don't know if a desktop hard drive will run from the pw-80.

(Because of wanting the possibility to view movies on the rear screen(s), I will duplicate the VGA output from the PC as the simple solution. Being able to connect also a Playstation, I would buy a splitter device with several inputs and one output.)
Excellent choice on the new Xenarc 700YR, I myself am looking at the 700TR (touchscreen model of the same design). Both screens should be released for sale at www.xenarcdirect.com in mid-july.

I am unfamiliar with the motherboard you are looking at. I am using an AGP graphics card with DVI and TV-out. If your motherboard has an additional video output (either S-VIDEO or COMPOSITE), I would suggest that you purchase the 800VR, as your children will not appreciate the clarity and increased resolution of a VGA screen.

If you search the boards here, most people who use composite LCD screens have no problems with clarity in full-screen video and games, but only complain about small text (in programs such as navigation, word processing, etc.) If you are really looking to save some money, I would strongly suggest you place a composite drop down screen in the rear for the kids, such as the 800VR. Additionally, other companies make drop-down composite screens, so you really have the option to comparison shop for the best deal....for example ( http://www.cardomain.com/shoplist~b~...d+LCD+Monitors )

Oh, and PS, what is that compartment above your existing head unit, below the analog clock?

Sorry for kind of a slow response, but doing night shift this week and didn't really have the time to check in.

I have put my pw70a and my ITPS in my case. Actually it's not a case, it used to be a housing of some kind of batterycharger -NO MORE- I've got my ITPS directly hooked up to the pw70a.

When I use my pc in the car I've got the wires coming from the ITPS hooked up like discribed in the manual. For indoor use i just take the "ignition ON" and "unswitched 12V +" together on "+" side of the connector to the 230v power supply. So when you plug in your 230v power supply after a few seconds your pc will turn on.

    It works perfectly for me.
Why is it drug addicts and computer afficionados are both called users?

Here is a link to a page on the mini-box.com website. Here you can calculate how much power you need for certain system configurations.

Same thing here in Belgium. I looked in on some LCD's from Earth LCD (USA). Some very interesting items and low prices, UNTIL... I looked at shipping rates... up to 70$ to get it over here...

Not an option I'd say. But luckily found a store in Holland which imports a lot of the components i needed. This way i could make a rather large order not having to pay much for shipping.

Could you by any chance give me a link or telephone number to this store? I frequently go to Holland and several other countries in Europe, so picking it up would not be difficult. That way I would also be able to sneak it in to the country without tax...(I never actually said that :-)

If anybody else have info. on European web shops/stores where the prices are almost comparable to Americans prices, I would love to hear about it...

Right now I need to do some more planning...

    Plans + status:
    + Ford Galaxy 2001
    + 7" GAIN (Xenarc) screen
    + 2,5" 40 GB Samsung drive
    + slot-load DVD/CDRW
    + USB WiFi
    - mainboard (Epia SP?)
    - housing (home made?)
    - power supply (Opus 90W/150W)
    - USB GPS + USB card-reader

I will probably order a Xenarc screen from USA the 700TR i guess) if I cannot find a European reseller/store with prices comparable to the XenarcDirect store. I do not have any plans using this screen for word processing etc. but may consider surfing the net...

I will consider using a drop down screen for the kids - the 800VR looks good, however, I'm a bit concerned about the video quality with that resolution (480x240) - any thoughts about that?

About your "PS": The compartment just below the analog clock is a small, not-so-deep (3-4 cm) 20x20 cm box where I keep my sunglasses etc. I have considered using it for a screen so that when opening the lid the screen would pop up. I don't know if it is big enough, though, never having seen the 7" screen "live"... Need more planning on the complete project before I can conclude if I will use this compartment, but probably not - I still consider a DIN housing the best option for the screen, replacing the current double DIN head unit with a more modern one having an AUX input where I can connect the PC. (If I end up NOT building a car PC, I could use the AUX for an MP3 player...)

    Thanks for all help BTW!

Here's that link of the store in Holland where I got my equipment.

    http://www.myelectronics.nl/

But be sure to check whether they've got everything you need on stock.
Contact info and their address can found on the site.
Most of the site is in Dutch so if you can't figure it out, let me know, I'll help translating it.

To give you an idea of prices: they 've got the Xenarc 700TSV for 499 while at the Xenarcdirect.com site it is sold for 469$
