Welcome Kusanagi Kei, I lived in the Algarve (Carvoeiro) many years ago. It was an awesome place to live, but I hear its spoiled by the tourists.
For now I would recommend just using a cheapo inverter, the Lilliput alone will run you $300.00, plus cables, etc. By the time you're done you'll easily have $500.00 spent. and that's using the pc that you allready have, with that 15Gig HD (nothing wrong with that)
This way you'll at least have a carputer running. I think it's better to do a "cheap" install first, this way you'll get better ideas and knowledge along the way and end up with a better plan for the 2nd carputer. (Than sell your first one)
    Good luck...
    Hello Muldrick

Oh yes Carvoeiro Nice place but you heard right...it's too spoiled by the many tourist that visit this part of Algarve every year I dated a girl from Faro, that's not far away

Thanks for the advice I don't want to spend a lot of money right now...I would consider buying the inverter but I'm a little bit confused on buying the inverter or saving a little bit of money for the opus...well gotta think a little bit more on this

    Thanks
Greetings from Portugal :) Where the sun always shine bright...well I think.. :D

Save money on inverter and put it towards Opus, it will cost you less in the long run to get it right first time.

Believe me, I have used inverter (with 2 desktop PSUs), morex dc-dc (on it's own), then with the ITPS, then an Opus, and only the Opus has worked.

The Morex and a Carnetix CNX-P1260 is now sitting in my dad's car and working perfectly. The inverter and ITPS have since been thrown in the bin.

I would advise you to go for the xenarc screen instead. reason being i've had two lilliputs and both have had a touch screen fault about 3 months into there life. If you check the forums out i'm not alone. The xenarc just seems that little bit better quality and brighter.. I just wish I spent the extra few bucks in the first place.

Oh yeah, I also recommend the Xenarc. I've seen and used both a Lilliput (my mate's) and 2 Xenarc (older - my dad's, newest - mine) and even the older Xenarc is better than the Lilliput, and the newer one is even better still. I can still see the Xenarc in the direct sunlight, but the Lilliput - no chance.

My mate is now saving up for a Xenarc, and wishing he'd not bought the Lilliput

Thanks for the advices Confused and CdRSkuLL Yes I've been seeing through the forum that people are a little more fond of the Xenarc display. Didn't think that the Lilliput was so problematic... Since the Xenarc is also available on CarTFT.com, maybe I give it a try Gotta save a little bit more, but if it's worth it I don't mind

I've been using a 700 W inverter for 3 months, no problems so far. Also no reboot problems when starting the truck, even after being on for 5 + hours.
I also like the additional power outlets in the back of the truck.
However, my biggest bark against an inverter is size, and not being able to have the pc boot up automatlicly.
I am now thinking about the Opus, but I'm having a tough time spending the money on it.
I just recommended the inverter because its much cheaper. (for a 1st time pc)

I was against spending money on the opus.. but now I'm glad I did.. I decent inverter.. sign wave not square was going to cost me about 90.. then I had to figure out how to turn the PC on and also get a atx psu.. the opus although works out a little more is defo the way to go.. What I've found is follow what most have got.. If you look at what stuff peeps are using.. you will see mentioned M10000 boards.. 150w opus and liliputs alot.. as I said before xenarc screen do perform better. go on.. be a sheep just follow the rest of us. :-P
