XBox -> VGA here: http://www.digital-x.de/KNOWHOW/XBOX...a_box.htm#9999
Be sure and mount that XBox HDD vertically as horizontally it will more than likely get nice scratches on the platters.
i was wondering would it be possible as xbox's are like now 100£ at amazon and a mod chip around 30£. Would i be able to put a modchipped xbox in my car attached to a 15inch tft monitor to be able to play DVD's DivX and MP3's though the stereo. A convertor would be needed for the Xbox->TFT monitor through VGA but what else would be needed like power adapters and convertors??
No need to convert to VGA (unless your LCD does not have composite in) Xbox has composite out. Three years ( 3 carputers, too) of carputing and a rough car accident I can say your HDD will most likely be perfectly fine mounted either way.Originally Posted by marco0009

don't worry i know i usually don't make much sense
You'll need an inverter to power the X-Box, but I don't see you needing anything else, except maybe a controller extension cable if you want to have the X-Box in the trunk and the DVD IR reciever in the front.but what else would be needed like power adapters and convertors??
If you're good with computers (building/upgrading), you might consider going a soft-mod route (no soldering or expensive mod-chip needed). More details in the www.xbox-scene.com tutorials section.
Try it out, just make a backup of your hdd, they are dirt cheap these days, so take it, make an exact copy of it, and store it somewhere safe. There are complete tutorials for this type of stuff, specificly hdd at http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/hdd-install2.phpOriginally Posted by sagekoala
WTF?!? You did what? With who? Why?
Current Carputer... 20GB iPod, I am working on an upgrade though!
you can only tsop flash v1.0 and v1.1 which are really hard to find these days. Second i have done the vga mod, and it doesn't work on all apps and games(some work, some just look green). Having modded over 20 xboxes i can tell you right now that "no solder mods" wont work for you. Apart from being the lazy aproach, those things suck ***. IF you knock them hard they will move and lose pin connection, and you have to realign them. So in a car inviroment they are usless.Originally Posted by hevnsnt
So basicaly what you need to do is:
Do the inverter thing.
Extend a controller port to the front of the car(they are just usb ports). and connect the Ir reciever for the dvd remote. (This works great for Xbox Media Center)
Then just get a cool composite screen for your car like say this one http://www.mp3playerstore.com/stuff_...al/TM-7300.htm
For the power button you can try to extend it. IF it doesn't work then use a relay.
That will take care of everything for the car.
As for the xbox, you can mod it yourself (its not that hard). If not then buy a modded one.(pm me, i can sell you one.)
Stick a nice 120gb+ drive in it and install xbox media center and Dvdxfree.
If you want to get a little crazy you can add a wireless ethernet bridge to connect to your home network for file transfer or internet use.
And of course emulators are a must. Load up some nes and snes emus and roms to play while you drive... err while your parked. For this you would need to extend additional USB ports to the front so you can connect the controllers.
Good luck and email me at [email protected] if you have any questions.
oh i almost forgot to mention that Xbox media Center looks really good on TVs and composite LCDs, so you will not need VGA.
You can TSOP flash all the way up to Ver1.5! I know cause I did plenty.
