Question confused about mobo choice ...

    Hi all,

I think I'm almost there but I still have some doubts ...
Plan is to install a pc in my VW Golf. I would like it to be able to play my mp3's and divx's, do some gps, have a rear view camera (for the kids) and later on, do some OBD.
My first idea was the VIA EPIA MII 12000 mobo. It seems to be fully equiped.
I had some reticence because I read that quality of divx play back and sound was rather poor. So i looked for other mobo's but didn't really find what I was looking for ...
Especially because I was thinking not to install any harddisks in the pc ... I also read alot about harddisk crashes caused by bumpy roads. So I was thinking to boot from compact flash or usb flash disk and create a virtual directory in RAM (for /temp). Flash disks with IDE connectors exist but prices are monstrous. Applictions (GPS), mp3's and divx's would also be stored on a separate flash disk (usb, firewire, ...). So I was looking for a compact (max flexitx) mobo that was able to boot from flash devices, had onboard qualitative sound and video and enough RAM and CPU to control everything.
Does this idea seems logic to anybody ? Has anyone had experience in a same setup ?
What are your experiences with the VIA EPIA and divx and sound ?
Can anyone suggest me a decent mobo ?
If the choosen mobo would be a mini-itx, I was thinking off a similar setup as the BMWPC, created by Nico3k.
Also, where do I store the pc best in the car ? In the trunk, in the glove compartment ?
Right now, i'm in the state of having too much info and not being able to decide.
    Thx a lot, guys

Well, you can always go for some solid state ram drives... they go for about $1000 per Gig... but they are really really really really fast. I've only had the pleasure of using them once. After BIOS, it's about 1 second to load an OS

There is nothing wrong with using a conventional laptop hard drive. Don't be scared away by horror stories. They are very good. 4200 RPM drives.

I know ... horrible those prices.
So you think a 2,5" HD should do the trick ? Roads can get very bumpy around here.
Is there a way to absorb shocks, you think.
Had any experience with VIA EPIA M...

    Thx
