    LCD mounting suggestions

I currently own a 2001 Ford Taurus, and I am interested in getting my car pc project going. The only major issue I can think of is the mounting of my LCD. I want to keep my LCD, which probably will be a Lilliput or Xenarc, portable (being able to install it without destroying the car), so I don't want to bondo a new console and move my HVAC buttons etc. This is what the radio etc looks like:

I grabbed this image from the internet, the bracket is for an XM radio tuner.

I want to be able to mount it, but not on top of the dash as I don't want it to be getting too much attention, but I don't want to block the HVAC vents either. I also can't mount it next to the console as shown in the photo unless there is a way to do it without being in the way for the passengers. I did some searching here, and it looks like I am the first guy to deal with this, I am hoping I am wrong on that one and some of you can provide me with some good tips. Thanks!

I was thinking of those, but then it would be visible to the local troopers, eventho I don't plan on watching DVD's while driving, I wouldn't want to get pulled over because the trooper saw the screen, and I am not sure what the laws are in NY regarding these LCD's.

that's what my car looks like inside, except I have the manual HVAC controls (which means technically I can put in an aftermarket faceplate which could provide a DIN slot, but don't really want to replace that faceplate as I might sell the car in the next year).

I don't see anywhere you put the screen without doing too much work. You could place it right in front of the shifter on a stand and then angle up and towards you. You should be able to see the screen pretty well when its in drive.

I agree with Quattro. I don't see how you can do anything awesome without gettin' a little destructive...

Only thing I can think of is pulling out all your stock stereo stuff, and replacing it with that after market thing you're talking about, and use that for the year you have the car, then put all the crap back when you're done.

I guess that's one other small details I forgot, my shifter is column mounted, so I have room for a 3rd seat in the center , or I can change it so I get an armwrest + a nice cupholder in the middle by flipping the seat over (which is usually how I have it). I guess the only concern I would have there is if I have the screen point up, how much would the sun/daylight interfere with the brightness of the screen?
