You may find that you need a driver package from the vendor in order to get all of the embedded hardware to function properly after the install. Not really harder since even with a mobo with full support out of the box, you'd want to go in afterwards and upgrade all of the drivers with the latest and greatest from the manufacturer of the components. Keep us posted on your setup...I'm working on one for an '86 CJ-7.
WinXP has loads of drivers included so installtion will be no problem on most if not all mobo's.
Once you have XP installed, you may get better performance by upgrading to the manufacturers latest drivers.

Most of the time after you install windows and proper service packs your set. But sometimes you need to find drivers for your devices to function properly (vid, audio...etc).
Mine needs to be updated.
As long as either 1.) you have all the proper drivers for the motherboard already, 2.) Windows has the drivers for it built on, or 3.) You can download the drivers online for the motherboard, than no problem.
