Dual monitor set up and function?

OK if you can bear with me I'm not a computer expert not even close.
I'm building my system for my car to serve sevearal purposses. I want to be able to play mp3's, dvd's, nav, using a touchscreen. I also want ot set up another monitor to serve for normal computer operation (this I'll be using for logging and tunning my ecm). This I would like to be able to hook up a IR keyboard and mouse with the second monitor.
My question is,what is going to be the easy way to set this up and easy to use? I also want to have separte sound for each.
also I did and could not find what I was looking for. I need some detail's thank's

    Yikes,

Holy cow man are you in for a ride. Vehicle telematics, which is what we all design on this website is addicting, once you start you and your wallet just cannot stop.

The concept computer you are describbing sounds very similiar to a normal carpc that we design, and I suggest that you just do some more research on this website.

As far as the dual monitor stuff, here;s my suggestion:

Get a systemboard with an AGP slot and buy a graphics card with DVI and VGA outs, (you can convert DVI to VGA). Then install windows XP (because it has built in dual monitor support) then add all this junk to the concept pc you have in mind.. your embarking on a long journey that might cost you a fortune.. good luck

thank's for the help. my pc should be able to more then handle running severale program's. I'm building a p4 norwood with a 800 fsb. I'm going to be using a dragonfly 2 board also. I have a system I build already similiar to this at my house and realy like it. though it doesn't have dual monitier's of course.
I'm hoping everything work's out. the car is a 2000 camaro that I'm currently building a fordged motor for. it'll be getting supercharged also at about 14-16 lbs. and put down about 800hp at the pavemant. I need the ecm software because of the extensive work done to the motor. I enjoy building sound system's as well so I'm tring to take a differnt appoarch compare to all the sstem's I normaly build.
I hope all goes well as for project finish date will be never. I'm alway's tweeking a project as long as I have it.

p.s. how do you convert dvi to vga?
thank's agia, from how I'm planning my system sound's like I'm already headed in the right direction.

I belive DVI also transmits the analog VGA signal. In any case conversion is simple:

Actually, when you buy a video card with DVI, it usually gives u an adapter. DVI -> VGA

Or at least all the video cards I've ever bought came with them if it doesn't, here's a link to buy one from NewEgg.com Product Link

    Hope this helps

The best multimontor program out there is UltraMon. This thing does a lot of stuff that Windows should let you do but doesn't. Get it here.

Contact me for special instructions for this software.
