1992 Camaro RS Carputer

I'm going to quote someone right now, even though it's not exact, it has the same concept. "Ask questions and be a fool for a minute, never ask questions and remain a fool."

Not to mention, I was doing a bit of research and haven't found ONE person who has ever installed a carputer in a 3rd Gen F-Body.

Also, guys. I was out in my car earlier, and really did realize how big the case was. So, I made the following drawing showing how my center console looks like on the inside.

There are 2 "layers" because there are 2 different "stages" inside of the console. Not sure what words I should really use to replace "stages". Anyway, are there any small formfacter motherboards I can fit in there? What's the footprint of a mini-ATX? Flex-ATX?

I just did some reading up and the only motherboard that would fit in there is a "Nano-ITX" board, and, I coulnd't find any places that sell them. Everything else is too big by close to 2"

If ya hadn't noticed, 'noobie' is in my screen name so I think I'm always going to be a newbie when it comes to carPCs. When I first got into this, I knew what an inverter was, but I didn't know about Opus, Xenarcs, Lilliputs, GPS mice, MediaCar, etc, etc... I had my questions just as well, and am very grateful for the answers I've received. I like to think I've spent some time helping others out when and where I can with questions. I could have easily threw up the ol'

icon, but that's not what I'm tyring to say. I'm not trying to say "search dumb n00b" either. All I'm saying is I'm getting an impression that this is being done a little hastily. A lot of questions CAN be answered by spending the time to read the many thousands of pages in this site. Many people here do just that and still have plenty of ???s. Just saying a lot of questions can be answered by reading first.

Example, you just suggested that he plug a 300w inverter into his cig. lighter.

I just did a quick search and found 60 possible threads with info that says that's not such a good idea.

@carpcnoobie: Man, I didn't suggest a 300 watt inverter, I threw that up as an "is this what you're talking about?" example. I would not ever suggest plugging it into a cigarette lighter because of my experiences, plus those of others. Sheesh. I see what you're saying though, and I'm sure this guy's gonna do the research.

Corps, lookin' good so far man, have you decided what program you're gonna use yet?

I was thinking "Neo Media Car"

Edit: I'm just not sure what I'm supposed to have, and what the program automatically does itself. Like, a volume filler, or a playlist box, I just don't know.
