Does anybody know what I have bought here?

    Newbie here,

Just wanted to say hi to all. I'm not new to mp3 as I have had an oscar MP3 player for years; however car mp3 is new to me and I have started by winning the following ebay auction. I dont' know much about what I have bought so if you know the model & make of this kit; I'd appreciate it. I hope to receive and install it next week.

Was I robbed? or is it a good deal?

    Ian.

I had one of these 4 years ago! - can't rember the name, but i'm sorry to tell you that it sucked! - back then it was pretty bad, but usable considering that no radios had MP3 at all, but today where every HU supports mp3 it's wothless ... the soundquality is really bad...

Guy at work has one. he absolutely loves it. But then he did only have an Astra estate so sound quality was not an issue.

I had a neo35 (same thing) for years..loved it. I didnt have the remote though, just had the whole thing in the dash (its deep though). One day it stopped working. The compnay in US that sold it was ssiamerica here in jersey. I started see them in BestBuy for a while.

Thanks guys, that's alot of help. I'm looking up all the pdf manuals now so I can organise the fitting. It's just going in a '99 Mondeo, looking forward to it..

The price seems quite good then unless I'm mistaken?

I used one of these about 4 years ago. Got REALLY p155ed of with it constantly hanging, crashing, and crap random play, eventually just shoved it to the back of a cupboard (250 quidsworth at the time!) and forgot about it.

Tidying up yesterday I re-found it. Powered it up, and it was still really crap. HOWEVER, the software for it is now Open Source, and in very active development. I've put the latest firmware on it and it's seems a million times better than before!! (admitedly after only brief testing).

I'm tempted to use this in the TVR for a while and then hold-out for a good motorised fold-out VGA before putting the full carputer screen in.

If you want this firmware, go to http://www.ssiamerica.com/open/

Car changed for TVR Griffith 500, so computer de-installed. Using a Dension 100ix w/60Gb HD unit in the interim.

A guy at my work has one of these as well. There is an EPROM inside that you can still get. They have updated versions including one that supposidly does some sort of voice announcement, or voice recognition or something like that. They guy at work seems pretty happy, he even ordered one of the upgraded EPROMS (not the voice one). Good Luck!
