I think we all deserve a big pat on the back... Look at how grown up and responsible this forum has become since the hedonistic days of 1999...

Anyway, thanks for the resurrection Sannis, this thread had me laughing out loud for a good five minutes... What a read!

(As an aside, I'd like to say that my replacement "CD-Changer" has a 10.4" touch screen VGA display, GPS navigation, DVD/CD player, OBDII interface, automated DJ, text-to-speech with a library of my favorite books, wireless ethernet, 40Gb laptop drive, is embedded in the dash where my head unit used to be, runs cleanly off a straight DC-DC converter and last but not least bypasses my (non-existent) head-unit and goes directly to my amp using the cars built in wiring harness)

And if I were to start a thread like this one for my own tips, it would have only one tip...

Think for yourself.

Sad that some people can be so narrow minded to assert that their ideas are the way, and the only way.

I would say that there's no need to apologize for taking the time to actually read way back into the threads before posting. Too bad all the newbies don't do that.

If you get a high quality cable, you can get 4,500Kb/s (that's what I get on my LAN). That's more than adequate speed.

On the other hand, if your computer is not near your garage and you don't want to take it out of the car that's a different story...

one/two cans of beer to get a sparky with the crimp tool to do it....

thats one cheap cable. btw, cat5 is rated up to gigabyte ethanet cards not too cheap yet tho

The one thing I agree 100% with is the tape adapter. Unless it's a laptop on your passenger seat, a hardwire is so much more elegant. But then again, I'm a big fan of clean installs.
