Broken Laptop Startup

First of all I am a complete newb when it comes to wiring. My laptop which I plan to use for my carputer has a broken lcd screen which I have removed. I would not mind tearing up my Compaq 1700t if there is a way to enlong the wires to the current power switch and wire them to a remote switch in the dash. Please let me know how I could do this without using WOR or WOL, for I am looking for the simplest solution. Or alternativly if it is possible to sell me some kind of WOR switch I am always interested.

Solder two leads to the existing switch. You are looking for two small thru holes pretty close to the switch, they use them for testing. Solder the wires to the holes, run the wires to a small hole, or connector placed in the casing of the laptop (something you put in yourself.)

Connect a momentary switch to another set of extension wires running to the connector. Enjoy!

P.S. B very careful soldering, or you might not like this method....

Armada 1700? If so it supports wake on ring at the serial port.

It is a presario 1700t any ideas?

Sorry a Presario 1700 is completely different. The presario line is practiacly a different company so nothing is the same as the business line I'm familair with.
