    Gettin ready to start

    I just got my

    TVIEW 7" XGA Touchscreen
    400Watt Inverter
JBL BP300.1 Car Amp (Mono Sub) 300 RMS
    Alpine 12" Type R 1000WATT Sub 300 RMS
    External CD-RW Drive
    4 Port USB Hub

    I already have my Laptop

I wired the inverter to the car, and plugged the laptop into the inverter, but it restarts the laptop, actually the inverter goes into overload and turns off, what do i do? Like the laptop turns on when the inverter is running off just the car battery, but when you turn the car on, it shuts the laptop off and goes into overlan, but when you use the cigerate lighter prong that came with the inverter, and you turn the car on, it reboots the laptop, and doesnt go into overload.

lose the inveter, and buy a laptop power supply that is designed to run ina car, most will take 8 -14 volts and will supply the 16V that most laptops need to run on, inverters are bad news, and noramlly you would only need to use one for a 240v to atx voltages power supply, as you using a laptop this isnt needed

i think he means something like this

    http://www.powerstream.com/lta.htm

you'll have to find one that can be used with your laptop. To make it cleaner.. you can chop off the cig lighter adaptor and wire it from your battery or a 12v line somewhere else.

inverters waste a bit of energy to convert DC to AC --then the Laptop adapter converts it RIGHT BACK to DC. these watts of energy could have been spent making the powersupply more stable through starts.

The way to fix this is through understanding of the problem.

Get a DC to CD converter/regulator and the ITPS that matches the needs.

The link that hijinks gave you is the best method. Try using something else with your inverter like a house radio or something just to see if your inverter is bad.

you want a dc to dc adapter (model #ED1060-60)

it takes 12V from your car (actually 10.5V to 15V) and outputs 19V for your laptop. One end goes in your cigarette lighter and the other plug sinto the laptop.

There are two problems with the inverter.
    1) it takes 12VDC from your car, and converts it into 120vAC. Then you plug in your laptop power supply to the inverter. The laptop power cable accepts 120VAC input and outputs 19VDC to your laptop. Its more efficient to convert the car's 12V DC into 19V DC for the laptop.
    2) when your car is starting, the battery's voltage drops to low for the inverter to continue working. The DC-DC adapter on that website can function anywhere from 10.5-15V, meaning it can should still be able to power the laptop even while your car is cranking.
