a few (newb) questions, as far as wiring and power, etc

mkay, when it comes to electricty, i totally suck and could probably use to a good URL to read up on basics, so if anyone could point me in the right direction on that, much appreciated.

on to the real purpose for the post.

I've got an EPIA-M 600mhz board/proc combo. an 80gb WD 3.5in. hard drive, and a mitsumi 8x dvd drive.

soon, i plan on purchasing a lilliput 7" touchscreen tft display.

as far as power supply, i have the 200w snap in (no wire) power supply for this board as well as the ITPS regulator.

now I have the wiring diagram that was supplied with the itps reg. and the psu, no problem there (as far as i can tell ;x)

now, i'm almost definately positive that the psu will power the hdd and the dvdrom no problem, so thats not really an issue, my real issue is running the power for the lilliput screen, i just saw a diagram that shows it being run off the powersupply, and i'm not really sure if i could, or if i wanted, to do that - i was planning on drawing from the cigarette lighter lead, or something like that, like i said - i'm no electrician ;P

any suggestions as far as powering this screen?

also, any reading material you guys could suggest would be much appreciated, and - what would the the max load on my psu, in your opinion?

Well i ran mine off my 120w from ebay. (but i didnt do that long because i was gettin noise from it through my speakers, but i think it was just because i didnt ground my motherboard). As for how you should power it I dont quite know yet I have few problems that ima work out. I went out tonight and on my way home i ran into these problems again. Ima put back on my psu tomorrow and see if that helps.

I hooked my lillput back on my PW70A 120watt and it was worse. I can only boot my computer with truck on and it has shut off a few times. I dont recomend puttin it on your psu. Unless you had an opus i suppose.

I seemed to miss the fact that you needed information about hooking up your screen to your PSU. (TIP: You can run more than just your screen. I am running my screen, USB Hub, and SoundBlaster Extigy.) I highly recommend getting a multimeter. It has been used a many occasions during my carputer/stereo installation. Even the cheap $20 small digital one from RadioShack works great. That's what I use.

Cut the plug off from the 12VDC cigerette light plug. Determine which of the wires are positive and negative. Extend the wire attaching the positive wire to the yellow power wire for the drives and the negative to the black wire for the drives.

Better yet. Take your screen into RadioShack. They can determine what size Adapt-a-Plug you need (I think I used N Size) and then simply get a 15-foot Adapt-a-Plug (similiar to THIS but they have it available longer and without the extra connector. The 10 foot was too short which I still need to extend.).

Can you please make this more clear? Leave the 12V car lighter plug in tact (including the "egg") and extend it to the PSU, then make my own molex plug using the + as 12v [yellow molex] and - as ground [black molex]. Did I get that right?
