Wiring Slim CD & 7" TouchScreen

I will be using a indash screen and a slim slot loaded cdrw/dvd drive in USB enclosure in my dash. Since the screen needs 12V and the drive needs 5V should I just run 12V, 5V, GND from my Power Supply which will be in the cargo area of a Bravada to the front.
I think this would be easier than hard wiring the screen to the car and then finding another way to power the drive.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks
    Kevin

Yeah, if you can get power from your power supply to power your screen and drive, go for it. It is actually better coming from your PS

    One more question.
Does everyone usually run the VGA up to their screen? That is quite a large wire to run. Or do they use a Video RCA?
    Thanks

most use a vga cable as the picture is way better quality. I'm sure you can find a thin/low profile vga cable as well.

Just a thought, do you need the ground coming from the PS??? Cant you just run the lives from the PS and use the ground that is already used in some component in the dash?

Do you need a Male\Female VGA cable when extending the cable for a Xenarc? Also, can the touchscreen Xenarc run of USB power, or does it need seperate power as well? Thx.
