I am new to the carpc idea but i am familiar with car audio. I am planning on putting a carpc together, but i am still tying to figure out a few things.
One thing I needed to know is if a good sound card can replace a high end head unit. I am trying to figure out if I need my head unit or not once I put in my carpc. The sound card would need to put out at least 4V
I would appreciate any suggestions

4v? How does the voltage of the sound card matter at all? Do you mean wattage? Because thats what you go for in a head unit. Let me ask you something, when you plug your headphones into your headphone jack, is it as loud as the stereo in your car? NO! You know why? Because it has a much lower output. Buy an amp, get a soundcard with RCA output, go with Creative's MP3+. It's cheap, crappy, and you can buy it at Wal-Mart. If you want a good RCA output card, search for it on newegg.
