i would suggest a larger hard drive if you plan on growing an mp3 collection. I thought 60GB would be sufficient but i'm already at about 40GB worth of music.
After lurking around this site for a long time I have finally decided to venture into making a car pc. I'm strapped on cash for the time being so my system is going to consist of parts left over from previous computers. My setup will consist of the following: Asrock K7S41GX motherboard, AMD Athlon 1.2 gh, ATI AIW 9000, on board audio, 40 gig 3.5 HD, DVD, Win XP. For the PSU, i'm going to use an od HP supply and buy and invertor. I will be using my existing head unit with Aux Input for my sound. I plan on getting a 7" touchscreen for the display to be housed in the dash.
I guess I'll begin here, I'm using a mid tower case since space is not that much of an issue at the moment. I just want to get this thing off the ground for now and upgrade later when funds come around. The main use of this system will be for mp3 playback, dvd and short video, gps, and maybe some short revisions of papers when needed. Is this setup worthy of begging such a large project with my goals in mind?
All info is greatly appreciated and welcome. I've searched around and got a begginers clue of this but need some sound advice on any issues I might have. Also, If anyone is in or around Eastern NC who has experience with installing an indash display I could sure use the help one weekend. After all the horror stories of those things I would like a little experience on my side.
Thanks Again.

I thought about that as well. The 40GB was left over from a previous computer. I might do that in the future but for now I really just want a test install to work out bugs and see how I like it befor I uprgrade any futher. Thanks for the heads up though
This is about how I started, using a desktop case. Next I disassembled the case and put all the neccesary components in a smaller plastic tool box and went with a 90W Opus PSU.Originally Posted by Splash0430
