Disconnect your head unit from the battery and reconnect it with the aux in still connected.
hey, i'm sure this is a really common problem, but can anyone help me out here?
i have an alpine CDA9825 and the KCA-121B Aux-In AI-Net cable. my head unit only switches between CD and Tuner when i hit the source button on it, though. i can NOT figure out how to get the damn thing to recognize that my iPod is plugged in through the ai-net port.
oh, and i don't want the alpine ipod connector thingie. it has too many limitations on it... [screen only shows a few letters, only 255 artists recognized, slow scrolling, etc...]
thanks in advance!

been done already.
any other ideas?
thanks,

you have to turn the auxillary on, look through the owners manual and it should tell you how to do it. I dont know if yours is the same but on my cda-7863 you have to hold down the initialize button for 3 second to get to the auxillary on option. Once Aux is turned on the source button will switch from AUX to CD to TUNER. Hope this helps.
Hi, this forum is filled with info and I'm hoping someone can help me. I ressurected this thread because it's almost exactly the problem I am having. I'm definately a newb when it comes to this stuff but I catch on pretty well.
My goal: to use Sirius or the MP3 player from my LG Chocolate phone through my Alpine HU.
Here is what I have now:
Alpine CDA-9847 HU with Ai-Net port
Sirius-Alpine unit (installed by Tweeter a year ago, works great)
PAC Ai-Net M/F extension cable
KCA-121B Ai-Net to RCA adapter
RCA to 3.5mm adapter
3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter (for the Chocolate/MP3 phone)
My plan was to manually switch between Sirius and MP3 by disconnecting one from the extension cable and plugging the other in.
I got everything to work but just barely. It took a lot of plugging/un-plugging and turning the car (1994 BMW 325, btw) and HU off. Eventually, with the key on, and not turning it off between connections, I got both the Sirius and the MP3 to work with the extension cable. It worked exactly like I wanted it to. So I buttoned EVERYTHING back up and re-installed the dash (fixed a speaker wire that Tweeter did not secure properly), and shut the car off.
I started the car and pulled it out of the garage and into the driveway. Now, the HU is not recognizing either the Sirius or MP3! What happened between turning it off and then turning it back on? Why did it work with the key on before but turning it off led to the extension cable not being recognized?
It's 2 degrees outside but I'm determined to get this to work before I leave on a road trip this weekend.
TIA
Doug
