    PSU tutorial?

    I don't have any of the parts yet or a car but the idea to work on this project has intrigued me for a bout 2 years. I am in the process of researching and hope to begin in the summer of 05.

    My question is: How do you install the opus power supply? Is there any tutorial that I could use, preferbely with diagrams, and pictures.
    I hope to build one of those small mini pcs that stimps has featured on his car. Any help is appriciated thanks.

    thanks that cleared up some confusion. Now How do I connect the OPUS power supply to the battery in real life. Anyone have a picture of themselves doing that?

    You run a 8AWG wire from the battery to the Opus. It's bassiclly the same as the istallation of an amp, only istead of connectoing the remote line to the HU, you connect it to the ignition of the car. Simple.

    Reality is NOT your friend

    Option 1 -> 60% complete
    Option 2 -> dead in the water

    Rather then running the Opus to the battery could you run it to the power line that feed the stock HU. Since my stock HU will be replaced with the carputer I was thinking of getting the power from there or does the Opus draw to much.

    You could but you shouldn't. The Opus may draw too much current which would result in blown fuses, fires, or just unreliable operation. It's always best to install install a new power circuit when adding accessories rather than tapping existing circuits.

    Listen to Rando. He know what he's talking about. Run an amp wire from the battery with an in line fuse.

    Thanks for the info Rando, Looks like I will run a line from the battery and mount the opus under the dash somewhere then run lines from there to the carputer that will sit in my front dash behind the touchscreen.
