Thumbs down "Sha... You know what... Na-huh."

It doesn't look bad man... this baby blows away "FrodoPlayer" by a long shot. But, this thing ain't free... it isn't even meant to be bought! It's meant to be a "hook" to fish people into paying them ungodly amounts of money to install this system into your vechical. But also too, this thing can't hold a candle to MediaEngine www.mediaengine.org You truely have no idea how much better MediaEngine is compaired to this thing... and who knows is this program even runs? On their "Demo & Downloads", there isn't even any files to download, or demos... it's just hardware spec info and some big-wig wanna'-be "Ray Kucenas speaking at CES" links. One last word... this system also isn't designed for normal res TV monitors, only high end 800x600 monitors. Scew this thing...

The software does not do naything but play songs and videos so far, internet and otehr things are not supported by their hardware.

    Thought I smelled fanboys...

Well first of all, I applaud FrodoPlayer for the fact that is it free... and FrodoPlayer, as far as I've seen, has a much bigger fan base than MediaEngine, and MediaEngine's "WICK SICK!!", so that speaks highly for FrodoPlayer. But what I meant by this CastleGraySkullTek software was that the one thing it's got goin' for it is it's got some good looks... but then when you compare that to FrodoPlayer, this thing's the hottest thing on Earth. Again, screw this program as it's not free... and not even able to be bought! But, for FrodoPlayer... being the that it's so widely acclaimed, you'd think it'd look better than what it is now. Granted, the makers may not have been the best photo wizards, and that's cool... but the fact there aren't any skins for it?? Uh-huh, nope... you're out, I don't think so. Come on man. We all agree FrodoPlayer probably is much more functional than this CastleCrap (Frodo is easy to see on TVs) and that this CastleTek software is crappy... but if a crappy program like Castle looks so much better than FrodoPlayer... then that either means Frodo ain't great lookin', or Castle's lookin' "supa' fly". Some of the Frodo fanboys seam to forget this was about the "looks" of it all... but sense you guys wanna' being functionality into this, bring it on...

Seriously?? What makes this program so great? That's not a rhetorical question, I really wanna' know. I mean, there are ZERO screen shots on the web site... which took me months to break down even download it because of that, to see what all the hype was about. It appears to have a very "fanboy" type community, very "unopen"... or like they only want select people involved with the program at all. Click on "Feedback", "Access Denied!!". Click on "Forums", "Access Denied!!" Click on "Members List" "Access Denied!!", Click on "Private Messages", "Access Denied!!" I mean... outta' the 13 different places to go from the home page, all of them make you register. This is starting to feel more like I've logged onto www.cia.gov All this BS "comminuty" crap, and they can't even show one screen shot of it? I feel a little weird about web sites like this, but maybe they're doing it because they have download limits of the software, and they wanna' make sure only users download the software. But wait... anyone can download the software all day long. Well how are people going to see what FrodoPlayer even looks like to decide if they wanna' use it? You either gotta' register with their forum... or just download the program. (Some reason FrodoPlayer isn't on MP3car.com's list of software... Hmm...)

Also, maybe you guys can help me out with this... I downloaded the newest version like three weeks ago (trying to show a friend if he wanted it for his machine, knowing I certainly didn't, I've got MediaEngine), and low and behold my firewall program alerted me to FrodoPlayer trying to connect to the net as soon as the program was started. <grin> Let me guess... "Check for updates", right?? Yeah, a little weird... that you either gotta' register to the forums, or download this program which then tries to connect to the net, just to check it out.

But back to the program itself, it's ugly for one... The navigation's kinda' clumsy. The ****** can't even operate in full screen, just a tiny little window. I didn't even check what pixel size this was, but what do you tell people who are running 640x840 res if it's not that size?? Sorry... too big for you. Or what about people running 800x600 res if it's not that size? Too small for you?

I will say it has a lot of extras to it, but again that just leads to the clutter of it. But those are my main beefs with it... it's visual appearance and visual functionality. Now, you guys tell me what this program CAN do. (again, I uninstalled that baby once I saw the firewall deal, I wasn't going leave it on my system) I see Frodo has a ***** load'a external apps... and that's fine and all, but tell me what the base version does. Does it automatically dim the brightness of your screen? How does it respond from suspend and hibernation while playing music? Does it do any visuals?

This is your time to shine, boys... You can either woo new users to your FrodoPlayer... and keep it real, drop the fanboy BS... or drop the ball. It's no longer a debate about Frodoplayer vs. the visual appeal of CastleTek, it's about tellin' us why you all feel Frodoplayer is the best thing since shaved...... Anyways, let's hear it. We've put up quietly with you guys praising FrodoPlayer like it was sent to us from the Lord, so tell us all why it's so great. And don't worry, I'm the only person here to actually speak his mind here, like so you can invite as many fanboys as you want from "frodoplayer.com"... but you spammers better bring somethin' better to the table than lame insults... as FrodoPlayer's "best car program on Earth"'s unofficial status is on the line here.
