    inverter question.... please help..

    Im currently putting together a case for my carputer.... now i have 1 question about hooking up the inverter in the car...

    1st run a 8wg wired from battery to inline fuse to inverter...
    ground inverter to chasis ground....


    if this connection is right and when u turn off the car the inverter still running which power the carputer in standby mode. right,,,

    if this happen wouldnt it drain your battery,,,

    Yes, eventually. But if you drive your car daily you'll probably be alright. Also, depends on how much power you computer draws in standby and the capacity of your battery.

    It will drain your battery if you leave the PC in standby, but not if you switched it off. If you want automatic shutdown / Startup then you'd have to build something (there are many threads with suggestions), or buy an Opus.

    My inverter is hooked to a relay. So when the car is off, my inverter is off, correct? No drain on the battery?

    I just put a little rocker-led toggle switch in my ashtray (which closes). that way i know for SURE that the inverter is off when my car is parked....
