Thread: Start my own carpc build (have a few questions).

I don't get what you mean by splicing the cables from the motherboard. If you have onboard sound, you need to get some mini-jack to rca (tulip) cables to connect the sound to an amp.
A standard amp that is! My Volvo had an amp too, but that was a positive ground one, which kept blowing my fuses when connected to something else then the stock radio.

You also could get a fm-modulator, but you will lose on soundquality.

How do you use the stock amp now? Did you connect the line-level outputs of your clarion hu to the amp or is it unused now?

If you connected your clarion, you will be able to connect the pc the same way, maybe needing some switch to choose between hu and pc.

Sorry, but Intel never made a 500mhz tualatin. The ram is a bit much... too much ram = slow resume from hibernate.

Although i would have to choose between one source or the other, it wouldnt be to hard. I havent looked for the amp yet, but when i got my head unit installed at fry's electronics, it took them a while to install it because they said it was amplified (3 hrs to install!), they had to modify the wiring harness where the head unit is located to allow it to work, taking out my equalizer in the process (damn i loved it), so i am looking into a carpc to take up its space. The processor might be overclocked to 504mhz, but under cpu-z it reads out as a tulain. Weird huh

Most motherboards can be off by a few Mhz... but if its a Tulain then you're probably running it at the wrong FSB speed!
