    So hows my setup sound??

I have a 98 crown vic and i wanted to put my computer in my car. I have this compaq deskpro thats just sittin in my closet. So i took it and took 2 layers of eggshell paddint(like for a bed) and put under the computer, did some fabrication and made a tie down similar to a battery tie down.

Now, i know this computer isnt the best but it has been upgraded with 128 gb ram, nice sound and video card, etc. Ive heard that i would need to put a laptop hard drive in it so it will be more shock resistant, so what would i need to do that and what would be a good hard drive(im not looking to dump alot of money into this so i would like to get off cheap, but have a nice setup).

I wired up a 500w power inverter with a relay and switch on the dash and mounted it in the trunk and made a tie down for it(looks clean besides the eggshell padding, temp until i get a latop hard drive). so i have that taken car of.

I also ordered a 8" lilliput screen and ive been thinking about how im going to fab up a mount to mount it on the dash.

So now that you know about my setup i have some questions.

I will be getting a wireless mini keyboard and a wireless mouse, ive never seen wireless keyboards and mouse before so i dont know how they really work, but will it work with the pc in the trunk? or do i need to get extensions and put the sensor somewhere in the front?

Ok so now i want to do some war driving, whats the best wifi card to get? i would like to have a small magnetic antenna on my trunk lid as well to get better receptoin, so i would like a card that will accept a ext. antenna, also i want a 800.11g

i know these are extremely newbie questions, but im just learning about all of this, btw i dont know much about computers but i know enough to install hardware and simple things like that...

    Thanks a bunch!!,

Don't get an infrared one, get an RF one, and place the transmitter/reciever somewhere central although it should work if it was in the trunk

I don't know about wardriving much and i don't know if the Buffalo WiFi cards work with netstumbler but i am going to get the Buffalo USB Wifi 802.11g card it has an external antenna hook up for a MC type connector. Do a search for Buffalo in the Wifi forum. I posted a thread with the USB card and the antenna that i am going to get.

Others have gotten the same one and have had good results

I have a gyration wireless keyboard - RF, not infrared. It's range seems to vary. I had the receiver in the back for awhile but sometimes reception was spotty. I moved it to the front and it works fine. It plugs into a USB port.

check ebay for wardriving kits, there are sellers listing an Orinoco Gold B card with an antenna and pigtail for like $50. I have always heard that the Orinoco cards are good for wardriving.
