Second Project and Problems already :(

Hi guys,

This will be my second project and I have come across a couple of problems and just wondered if you lot could give me some sort of fix for it or a completely different way!

I have a Ford Fiesta (2000 model) and I ordered a 7.2 inch headrest monitor from ebay as seen below:

Before I ordered this I thought I would fit the TV into here:

When the TV arrived and I went to measure up, I noticed this:

I have a facia panel as I have an aftermarket head unit so I was just wondering if something could be done? Here is the facia and the TV:

I really want to be able to fit the TV into that gap (without cutting the dash) but I am not sure how this can be done.... I would maybe try and move the panel below down a bit to accomodate the screen but then I would not know how to mount this!

Please could somebody help with some sort of idea as this is driving me mental

Get rid of the casing for a start, i take it thats not a VGA monitor so is only cheap. and make a new centre bit. Mayeb you can squeeze it in then.

And/Or

Look on ebay for a spare lower facia to (the bit with the HVAC controls) and try and trim the bottom off to lower it down and then stick the screen in.

you didn't get the measurements before you bought the screen??

as Scouse said....you will need to see if you can move the AC controlls down a bit, a inch or so isn't a big deal. I did it in mine once I got the 8" screen.

If that's not a VGA screen then you might have problems viewing all the fonts and what not

Thanks for the replys!

I forgot to mention that it will be for an XBOX and not a PC but fitting the screen should be the same thing just not plugging a PC into it!

I have just taking the casing apart and I really do not want to touch it without the casing, I have removed the headrest monitor but I have no idea how I will mount this as I will not fibreglass straight to the TV in case I mess this up!

I will have a look for a spare AC panel on ebay as I may be able to re-locate this.

Would there be any other way?

After a lot of thinking I have come up with another idea...

I thought about making a wooden framework which would bring this out of the dash so the TV could go in front of the hole but I could then get it as close as I can do the dash!

Once the frame is done I could whack some fibreglass / filler over it and smooth this to give it a smoother finish than wood (as plasticy as possible) (unless there are easier ways) and try and get it to be as flush as possible and then paint it the same colour as the dashboard!

Does this sound ok?
