    Networking Problems

Hello. I just started my carputer a or 2 ago, and now im just fixing all the glitches here and there. Now for the few problems that ive had, ive fixed, but i have more questions to ask.
When i first set up the computer in the car, i networked it to the rest of the computers in my house. I transferred all the information that i needed and then took the computer and hooked it up in my car. Now when i have added more stuff to the laptop, i cant get the car computer and my laptop to see each other and transfer more files over. I worked on it about 3 hours yesterday, and i got no where. My laptop sees the carputer, but it wont let me access it. And my car computer sees nothing on the network, only itsself. I was wondering if there is a fool proof way to send information from one to the other. I tried to use a FTP program a friend sent me, but it wont let me connect by ip address. I kept getting the error that it timed out, even though there are only 2 computers on this network.
By the way i have like 5-7 gigs of info to transfer, so i cant use a simple thumb drive.

    1. Is there a simple program to use to be able to transfer them right away, or is there a special wire to use to directly connect without having to go through a hub?
    2. Is there any way to get the M10000 board to use the 5.1 surround while running media car? I only get the front 2 speakers running, and i think i went through the instructions in the manual.

    Thanks again for your help.

If you want to connect your carputer and laptop network ports together without using a hub then you will have to use a 'cross-over' network lead instead of a straight through cable. You should be able to buy this or if you want to make it yourself have a look here for the wiring diagram.

As for the audio i'll have to leave that for somebody else who owns one of those m'boards.
