Obligatory "New Guy" Post

Hello all. For some strange reason I feel the need to introduce myself before posting anything else on these forums. I have been lurking for awhile and have decided to take the plunge and.....POST. I'm not ready to start on my carpc project quite yet but, with all the gems I glean from these forums I should be all set when I start. I want to use the smallest components I can, so I might wait until the official release of the Nano-ITX FF and the working out of it's subsequent bugs.

Anywho, much thanks to the people who makes these boards possible and I will contribute as best as I can to this community!

with nano itx you're not gonna have as much upgradability + power, if that doesn't matter then rock on! i wish i could at least have an AGP graphics card on my m1000 and had 2 pci slots =\

Hmmm, didn't think about that. I guess timing is everything. If I want to be an early adopter, I guess I will have to sacrafice functionality.

the question to ask is do you really not have very much space? you can get really creative

unless you're doing the whole glovebox thing which i recommend against.

I'll be interested in finding out how you plan to position the computer in your car and such. I have a similar car to yours (an MkIV Golf) and that means we should have the same basic layout inside. I am hoping to get the project done by the end of June, so I guess I am also in the long term plannign stages

Fuze, only messsin as you have bothered to say hi i will warn you about asking certain questions around here as the forum is getting filled up with the same questions by a sudden influx of new people. Nothing wrong with new faces - quite the contrary - everyone knows that every new person brings new ideas etc but please do you background reading as most of the issues you are likely to come up agaisn tin your 1st few weeks have answers on here.

Good luck with the install and i'm sure your PC spec will change a lot over the next few weeks.

LOL, yes I am quite aware of the flaming that can occur on forums. I will exhaustively search before posting questions.

rushnrockt: I'll probably do the ol' touchpanel mold into the dash thing and run the guts in the trunk. There's a gal on here who did up her Golf/GTI really nice, if you haven't seen it yet...http://members.cox.net/redgtivr6/carpc.htm.
