    How's this setup?

Right, really want to install a PC in the car and have been looking around at what I want and this is the list of components that I have selected so far:

    Case:
Antec Aria Micro ATX Cube Case

    PSU:
    Opus 150w

    mobo:
    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=63681
(check the top review to see specs)

    CPU:
    Athlon Mobile 2500

    RAM:
    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=42144

    Screen:
    Lillitech 7" touch screen

    160Gb HDD

I know a lot of you here are from the states so you may not get some of these components over there but can anyone see any compatibility issues here? I have built desktops before but never mATX!

This should be sufficient to play MP3's, which is what I want the inital setup to do, have I forgotten anything?

    Looks fine, but:
    - I'd be VERY careful that you don't get the "Low Power" (35W) version of the Athlon Mobile. The MSI microATX boards (and, I believe, nearly all, but not all, other microATX boards) do not allow you to manually set your CPU's multiplier speed. This is a problem with the low power Athlon mobiles, as they are detected at a FAR lower clock speed than they should be (for example, my 2400+ was detected as a 600 Mhz-clock chip). As I understand it, it's only the super-low-power Athlon Mobiles that exhibit this behavior (the 45W version miiiiight be just fine ). I'd search Google for "mobile athlon manual multiplier" or something similar.
    - Many people here will tell you to steer clear of the Lilliput screens (though you said Lillitech, so I'm assuming you mean the same thing). I've personally got the Xenarc, which is slightly more expensive, but brighter and does not have the tremendous number of touchscreen problems that many of the Lillis seem to.

Ewwww no! look at the nforce2 mATX mobos. Geforce 4mx graphics - better chance of getting 800x480 working i believe.

Oh and lots of people use mobile athlons - much better chips as they are low power and can be further underclocked.

I would defintely go mobile athlon but rethink your choice of mobo. I think the Biostar mATX nforce2 has full CPU control and the chaintech might - have a search around as there are a few people running these. I would not go normal athlon on a 150W psu personally. Even if your mobo wont do the full cpu control then you can modify the socket but this is dodgy. MatrixPC has done the mod on an Asus board - seach his threads for one about the athlon mobile wire mod.

Yes. Also that :-). Didn't even get a good look at the mobo other than to check that manual multiplier settings weren't listed, but Scouse Monkey is definitely right -- I've had no trouble getting my nforce2-based board to run at 800x480.

I'm using another mATX MSI board, the K7N2GM2-LSR, but that's mainly due to the absolutely insane deal I got on the price at a local computer shop here. It's actually a really nice board, but I'm using a (collective sigh goes here) Sempron on it, not an Athlon-M. mATX, nforce2, SATA with onboard RAID (should I need it later, anyway), and headers for 8 USB 2.0 ports; that was enough for me .

Is that the one with firewire too? Can't remember the number of the MSI board i was looking at but that had SATA and firewire - rare for a mATX nForce2 board.

Does it have FSB control and/or mulitplier control? the online manual is pretty gash about things like that and there are alwasy bios updates that can add features after they are written.

Thanks for the input guys, tbh, i havent really looked into the monitor situation yet, so that was just the one that popped into my head as I was typing!

Am I right to assume that the Opus PSU is ATX compatible size wise? So I can just fit it to any ATX/Mini ATX case?

What is the model number of the MSI board that has an unlocked multiplier thingy, not the one with the RAID etc tho, don't need that!

And so have I got everything there to do what I initially want to do? (not including the in-car parts like speakers etc)

Thanks again for all your help

I don't know if it does. Hence why i was asking

look for someone using a biostar and mobile athlon - that should have full cpu speed controls.
